New decks some times need excavation prior to building a new deck, or simply replacing an old deck,. In this case we had to excavate, for the retaining wall, then replace an old deck, with the new deck,. The old deck, was torn out prior to building the new retaining wall, so that we could then build the wall, then build the new deck, up against the new wall, as the customer required. As you will note the old deck, was placed on unstabile blocks with wooden shims to hold the entire deck, running from the side to the rear of the house. The new deck, was built on a floating foundation with a completely framed structure to support it's weight. This particular new deck, was built from recycled, composite material, with wrought Iron gates added later for security to the home.
